THE RULES AND HOW TO ENTER

Terms and conditions

1.1 Participation in Stonewater’s public art award competition constitutes entrants full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these official rules, which are final and binding.

1.2 Winning the prize is contingent upon being compliant with these official rules and fulfilling all other requirements, as outlined below.

Eligibility

2.1 Stonewater’s public art award competition is open to artists from all disciplines, located in the UK and are aged at least 18 at the time of entering.

2.2 Artists must submit their own original concept and not a copy of anyone else’s copyrighted material.

2.3 Artists must only submit their own art that they personally created.

2.4 If there is any question about authenticity Stonewater reserves the right to demand proof of authorship and if it is not, then the entry will be disqualified.

2.5 Stonewater has the sole right to refuse submissions based on failure to meet brief requirements, inappropriateness of content, and/or concerns regarding copyright infringement in the original work.

2.6 Previous winners of the Blunden Art Prize are unable to submit an award entry during their contracted period of work with Stonewater. Once all work has been completed, previous winners are eligible to re-enter the Blunden Prize.

How to enter

3.1 There are no entry fees for this competition.

3.2 All artists should submit their proposal as a PDF document – Stonewater will not consider entries in another format – along with a completed contact details form available to download, here.

3.3 Within the proposal, artists are given the creative freedom to present their ideas however they see fit but must clearly fulfil the entry requirements outlined in the brief and should be no longer than 10, A4 pages.

3.4 All entries must be submitted by e-mail to awards@see-media.co.uk by Friday 18th July 2025 at 12midday (GMT). Submissions sent after this time will not be considered.

3.5 All valid entries will be judged by an initial panel and six finalists will be selected to present their work to Stonewater’s final judging panel.

3.6 All finalists must be willing to present their work in-person on September 10th, 2025. Details of how this presentation will take place will be confirmed closer to the time. Finalists will be compensated for their travel to this session. If there are any barriers to finalists presenting in-person, Stonewater will seek to accommodate this accordingly.

Winner's commitment

4.1 The artist who wins the competition will commit to supporting Stonewater with the creation and delivery of three projects.

4.2 Stonewater will allocate location and budget accordingly for each public art installation, which will include labour, production, delivery and installation, and should not exceed this budget.

4.3 The winning artist will be awarded a total cash prize of £20,000. This will be paid in three increments based on agreed timings and deliverables between the winner and Stonewater.

  • At the point of signing the Heads of Terms
  • At the point of agreeing the design
  • At the point of completion.

4.4 The winning artist agrees for Stonewater to market and promote the public art delivered at each scheme, providing context that can be publicised where possible.

4.5 Two runners up will receive a single commission each from Stonewater. Stonewater will allocate the location and budget accordingly for each public art installation, which will include labour, production, delivery and installation, and should not exceed this budget.
